At the Katy Taylor Tournament this past weekend, the Clements Academic Speech Team received the first place sweepstakes award. Clements was one of 56 schools competing. In addition to closing out novice and championship Lincoln-Douglas debates, the team also had several students in the final rounds of individual events and team debate.
Tournaments held August through February allow students opportunities to qualify to compete at the state meet of the Texas Forensic Association. The meet will be held March 5-7 in El Paso. To date, CAST members have earned 14 qualifications.
