Current 9th Grade Global Studies Academy Students and Parent Informational Meeting

Dear Parent(s),

I have enjoyed working with your family in educating your academy student during this school year. As we begin to plan for your child’s 2015-2016 school year, please read this letter carefully, as I have important information to share with you.

At the January 12, 2015 meeting of the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees, the district administration announced plans to move the Global Studies Academy (GSA) from our campus to Travis High School, effective this fall. According to the recommended boundary and feeder pattern plan, our school is not projected to have space to host the Global Studies Academy in the future, whereas Travis High School will have space. The International Business Academy will also be moving to Travis High School next year, and because both programs have a common international focus, having both academies at the same school will better align courses offered in both programs.

During this transition, upper classmen (current sophomores and juniors) in this academy will remain at Clements High School. Ninth graders currently in our GSA Academy will relocate and continue their academy study at Travis High School, along with current eighth-graders who are selected from across the District to attend this academy. Application information will be released soon for eighth graders who wish to pursue membership in the Global Studies Academy at Travis High School.

In anticipation of relocating the GSA, a number of questions have been asked. For your convenience, I have attached a question and answer document. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have questions (  In addition, current ninth-grade GSA students and their parents are invited to an informational meeting on January 22, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Clements auditorium.

We are having a wonderful year at Clements, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with you as a partner in your child’s education. We will work to make the transition as smooth as possible for our current ninth-grade academy students who will be relocating to Travis High School next year. We are equally committed to ensuring that the Global Studies Academy continues to serve our 2015-2016 juniors and seniors who will be completing their academy studies at our school.
